Beethoven’s 5th Symphony (video above) begins with the single most famous melody in music history. Joseph Weigel (Weigl), composer, born in 1706 at Eisenstadt. From 1782 to 1785, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart divided his time between self-produced concerts as soloist, presenting three to four new piano concertos in each season. Instead of taking formal piano lessons, he joined the Imperial Russian Navy at the age of 12 after encouraging from his older brother and his interest in the sea.
