He continued to travel, teach, and compose, and his compositions were better received, particularly his commissioned works, but his health always held him back. In 1900, he was accepted to the Royal Academy of Music where he studied for five years with Frederick Corder, Tobias Matthay, and Julian Egerton. The piece gained fame when the composer himself, while serving as conductor, impulsively altered the dynamics of the second movement.

It was for this reason that they accepted a proposal from their relative Johann Matthias Franck, the schoolmaster and choirmaster in Hainburg, that Haydn be apprenticed to Franck in his home to train as a musician. The best singers were selected to form the choir which sang the Sunday cantata; one week at the Thomaskirche, the other week at the Nikolaikirche. Around 1759 he was appointed music director to Count Morzin. One of his oldest symphonies portrayed the idea of God speaking with an abandoned sinner, pleading with him to reform, however in his old age his memory was such that he could not remember which symphony it was. Giacamo Puccini: "Un Bel Di" from Madama Butterfly, and "Nessun Dorma" from Turandot. Both came to Mannheim when they had already been successful as composers, namely Richter from southern Germany, in 1749, and Holzbauer from Moravia, via Stuttgart, in 1753. In any case, it became Haydn’s crowning glory, and he composed The Seasons to fulfill demand for a second oratorio; this work was completed in 1801. These quickly became his most well-known works. Since composing was not considered a respectable occupation for a young lady of the 19th century, many of her compositions were published under her brother’s name. It is one a precious few texts dealing Haydn Wood. Within two years it was performed 30 times in Germany and 33 times in Austria. While there he hoped to receive a position as a court musician or composer, but he died without receiving any offers.
